Rabbit

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered

We found this beautiful bunny, abandoned at a park the day after Easter. He hopped right over to us and wanted to be petted. We bought a very nice hutch and put him on our lanai. All was well until last week when he figured out how to use a dog door and entered our home. We do not want him in our house and our dogs HAVE TO use the dog door. The kids are upset and insist that the ONLY way they will agree to let him go is if he goes to a home with other kids, where he will be loved. The bunny is free to a good home, the hutch is available for purchase (along with hay, food, treats, etc.).

Rabbit    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Rabbits
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

She is a very sweet girl. Fully litter trained and eats well. She does need to be brushed and she loves it. Sometime in her younger days, before I knew her, her leg became broken and did not heal properly and her leg sticks out to the side. However, she gets around herself perfectly but can't scratch/groom everywhere, hence needing to be brushed daily. Also because of her leg I wouldn't want her to live in a highly active household. A quiet enviorment with carpet is perfect for her. She has lived cage free for ever and she should continue to live cage free for the rest of her existence. I will take her back if she doesn't work out with ... (Read More)whoever adopts her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-28-00025Luna (female)

Rabbit    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

This is Luna, she is a 2 year old lion head dwarf rabbit who has a partner named Shadow who looks almost exactly like her, and she is up for adoption but only with Shadow (You can see his info seperately). She is a shy bunny but she loves to jump around and play in large spaces. I am looking for someone who really has the time for him and can provide her and Shadow with a large cage or pen because I do not want them caged up uncomfortably. She does have a disorder of Malocclusions where her top and bottom teeth always will grow no matter what she chews on but I have a solution a vet showed me about trimming her teeth and I can show you as ... (Read More)well. She has trouble grooming herself with her long teeth so I have to clean her up because she does get poo stuck by her tail, but she is a very sweet bunny and is very attached to her partner Shadow. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-19-00162Oreo (male)

Rabbit    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Rabbits
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered

This is Oreo. He's a pretty special rabbit because he is blind in one eye. Due to the rush that shelters get in the summer, Oreo was nearly euthanized. The shelter estimated that he is 6 yrs old, and they neutered and vaccinated him. I took Oreo into foster care and he has been waiting for a new loving home. He is a very sweet rabbit, has not nipped me once. He did good with my own rabbit, a dwarf male. I have not introduced him to any other animals but he generally has a very low-key temperament. He loves to eat fruits and veggies when he gets the chance (only as snacks), and he loves being let out to run on the floor. Oreo would be a great ... (Read More)family rabbit for someone looking to add a loveable bunny. Contact me if you're interested in rescuing him. **His adoption fee has been reduced from $35 to $25. I am used to rehoming dogs and cats and it makes me uncomfortable that people get rid of rabbits for such drastically cheaper prices. I feel it defeats the purpose of a rehoming fee when they're only $10, but he needs to find a home so I'm making it more reasonable. If you want the cage too, it's $40. I have sold an identical cage alone for $30 so I know it's worth that. Im just trying to make sure he gets a trustworthy home. ** (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rabbit in Florida
Rabbits can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. Rabbits are adorable, soft animals that make popular pets for children. While a rabbit can make a good pet for a child, keep in mind that to be healthy a rabbit requires a quiet, calm living environment. Please only adopt a rabbit if you feel you can create a safe and quiet space for the rabbit in your home. Rabbits can be housetrained to live inside, out of a cage, which dramatically increases their life spans. Rabbits can live as long as a dog or a cat, and unfortunately some people do not approach the decision to get a rabbit with the same seriousness or commitment they might have about getting a dog. Meanwhile, breeders may separate young rabbits from their mothers too early, which damages their immune systems, and pet stores might provide very little information about proper care and nutrition. As a result, countless rabbits die within weeks of being bought. Others are never spayed or neutered, resulting in unanticipated family additions and a major overpopulation problem. Sadly, the majority of these sweet pets are eventually euthanized. Rescue shelters that accept rabbits are often overflowing. If you are planning to bring home a pet rabbit, please adopt!
